However, there came a time when a great transformation occurred in their world that changed their lives forever. This event is described in a عظیم (great) chapter of the Quran, Surah Al-Jinn.
The Incident of the Closing of the Heavens
This was the time when suddenly, the jinn realized that their access to the heavens had been blocked.
Previously, they used to ascend to the heights of the sky, listen to the conversations of angels, and then pass that information to magicians on earth. This had been their practice for centuries.
But suddenly, one day, everything changed.
When they tried to ascend again, they saw:
- The paths were closed
- Flames of fire were being hurled
- Shooting stars were chasing them
They became shocked and frightened.
“What is happening? We have never been stopped like this before!”
This was not an ordinary change. It was a sign of a great event.
Consultation and Search of the Jinn
When the jinn returned to their people, the entire tribe gathered. There were questions everywhere.
An elder said:
“This is not a normal matter. Surely, a great event has occurred either on earth or in the heavens.”
Then the leaders of the jinn decided:
“Spread across every corner of the earth and find out what event has caused the doors of the heavens to be closed.”
As soon as this command was given, groups of jinn spread throughout the world.
The Spiritual Scene of Wadi Nakhla
One of these searching groups headed towards the deserts of Arabia.
It was the last part of the night, and silence prevailed everywhere. This group was passing near Wadi Nakhla, close to Makkah, when suddenly a voice reached their ears.
That voice was extremely beautiful, captivating, and touched the soul.
Bismillah…
The jinn stopped.
“What kind of voice is this? Who is reciting?”
They moved toward the sound, and what they saw changed their lives forever.
The Recitation of the Quran and Its Effect on the Jinn
They saw a group of people standing in rows, offering prayer. Their leader was a sacred personality reciting the Quran.
This was none other than Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
He ﷺ was reciting the Quran in the Fajr prayer, and the noble companions were standing behind him.
The jinn began to listen silently. With every verse:
- Their hearts began to soften
- The darkness within them started to disappear
- The light of faith began to spread
This speech was not just words—it was a message that awakened the soul.
The Jinn Accept Islam
When the recitation ended, the jinn said to one another:
“We have heard a wondrous Quran that guides to the right path.”
They immediately accepted faith and declared:
“We will never associate anyone with our Lord.”
This was the moment when a group of jinn became Muslim.
Revelation of Surah Al-Jinn
Later, Allah revealed the verses of Surah Al-Jinn to the Prophet ﷺ, mentioning this event:
Surah Al-Jinn (72:1–2):
Say, (O Prophet ﷺ), it has been revealed to me that a group of jinn listened carefully and said: “Indeed, we have heard an amazing Quran. It guides to the right path, so we have believed in it, and we will never associate anyone with our Lord.”
This is clear proof that the Quran is not only for humans but also a source of guidance for jinn.
Jinn and Humans: An Important Reality
Islam teaches us:
- Jinn are also the creation of Allah
- Islamic law applies to them as well
- Among them are believers and disbelievers
This event also shows that the status of humans is higher than that of jinn because prophets were sent among humans, and the Quran was revealed to them.
Lessons for Faith
This incident gives us many important lessons:
- The Quran changes hearts
Whether human or jinn, it affects every heart - Guidance is for those who listen
The jinn listened, understood, and accepted faith immediately - Pride leads to destruction
Even those jinn who were arrogant bowed before the Quran - Allah’s power is complete
He can change systems instantly, like closing the heavens
Surah Al-Jinn is not just a story but a great spiritual lesson.
It teaches us:

- Guidance is for every heart that accepts it
- Allah’s power prevails over everything
This event invites us not only to read the Quran but to understand it and make it part of our lives.

Surah Al-Jinn Practice for Protection from Jinn

This method is very simple and can be done by anyone:
After Fajr Prayer
- Offer Fajr prayer
- Recite Surah Al-Jinn 3 times
- Recite Durood Ibrahim 3 times
Blowing on Water (Dum)
- Take a glass or bottle of water
- After recitation, blow gently on the water
How to Drink the Water
- Say “Bismillah” and drink in three sips
- Pause briefly after each sip
Sprinkling in the House
- Sprinkle the remaining water in the house
- Especially on walls, corners, and rooms
After Other Prayers
For better results, repeat this after other prayers:
- Zuhr: 2 times Surah Al-Jinn + 3 times Durood
- Asr: 2 times Surah Al-Jinn + 3 times Durood
- Maghrib: 2 times Surah Al-Jinn + 3 times Durood
- Isha: 2 times Surah Al-Jinn + 3 times Durood
